Thanks to CoronaVirus pandemic – Indian aviation has come to halt the operation. Indian Government has basically put the entire country under lock down and people aren’t even able to travel within the country.
As per the current announcement, the operation of the country is supposed to start on April 14, which to me looks highly unlikely as the jump in Coronavirus cases which went from 500 to currently 3200 in a span of a week. There would of course be more with the rate it is increasing.
Air India has stopped taking bookings for both domestic and International for the entire month of April. They are accepting bookings from 1st May. Even if they start flying on the day the lockdown is lifted, the demand is very poor that it won’t be economically viable to fly those planes.
If this is a precursor to any omens, I believe all other airlines may follow the suit and start their operations from 1st May rather than 15 April. It doesn’t seem possible currently at the rate in which Coronavirus is growing in India that it would be controlled in 11 days.
