Has it ever happened that you forgot your ID while check-in or at home and you are not sure what you are supposed to about it? Or you reached hotel and they ask for your ID and you are unable to find your id.
None of the above is applicable if you are international soil and have lost your passport. You should rather run to local embassy as soon as possible and apply for the lost passport.
For the people who are Indian Citizen and traveling within India, you have few choices.
Airport
When you enter Indian Airport, they check your ID and ticket on the gate to see if you are eligible to enter the premises. If you can’t find ID, they have right to refuse you the entry.
Options
A. Mobile Aadhar
As per the latest government directives, the aadhar card (UID) is valid in any format. So you can download a soft copy of your phone or take a picture of your id and keep it handy if you can’t find your ID.
B. Contact Airlines
If you flying domestically, there would be a reservation counter right outside the airport where you can get your ticketing done. If your flight is flying from a particular airport, they definitely have a booth somewhere out there.
You would have to approach them and show your valid airline tickets. The airline has authority to provide you with a printout of your ticket and they can put ink stamp on it to allow you to access the premises.
Hotels
Most hotels take a photocopy of your legal id (if they are a smaller hotel). If they are a larger hotel or a chain of hotels, mostly they want your ID on their database. They would scan your ID on to their system. In both the cases, you can either give them a soft copy of your ID either via email or flashing your mobile. A staff at the front desk (The reception) would provide you correct ID to forward your ID.
