I just received an email from American Express Card that they were discontinuing services at Terminal 1 (Old terminal). On further digging, I learnt that Carnation lounge is shutting down.

As most of the full-fare careers fly out of Terminal 2 now and only low cost airlines fly out of Terminal 1. Low-cost airlines don’t offer lounge access and members had to depend on their credit cards to provide them access to the lounge.

Well that is about to end now as rightfully so. It just doesn’t make sense for lounge operators to keep running lounge at the airport anymore.

We are writing to inform you about a change in our airport lounge programme.

Effective 1st April, 2017, the American Express Lounge and the Carnations Lounge in Domestic Terminal 1C, at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai will no longer be operational.

Please note, you will continue to enjoy complimentary access to the Travel Club Lounge at Domestic Departure (Terminal 2) and discounted access to the Good Times Bar at Domestic Departure (Terminal 1B) and Loyalty Lounge at International Departure (Terminal 2).

Warm regards,
American Express Banking Corp.

Basically, any of the co-branded cards won’t provide lounge access.
American Express Platinum Reserve/Charge and Mastercard will continue to offer free lounge access at the Good Times Bar.
Priority Pass holders can get into the Loyalty Lounge at Terminal 1B (the ex-Jet Airways’ lounge).
Visa card and Diners holders don’t have any free lounge access at Terminal 1 anymore.
