The Mumbai airport GVK lounge has refused complimentary access to Jet Airways passengers over airline’s unpaid dues.
The action came after rate negotiations between Jet Airways and lounge operator failed. The Airline complained about about high user fees at the lounge and monopolistic practices at the airport.
A notice has been put up outside the lounge of the same.
As per the notice, both domestic lounge and International lounge access have been denied. However, you can use the lounge using Credit Card partners such as American Express, Diners Card, Visa Card or Mastercard (if your card is eligible for it) or paying for lounge fee.
As per the airport operator, The East Wing lounge was created mainly at the insistence of Jet Airways, given they are one of the most prominent tenants of the airport. For them, they have the largest number of premium cabin travelers as well as elites who march out to the lounges.
In short, it is looking very ugly for Jet Airways as they are prominent airlines to use that airport and they don’t have a lounge at their own Homebase where they are operating maximum amount of passengers and flights from. I am not sure how long they can call themselves full-service airline if things keep going this way.
GVK Lounge at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport received two accolades at the recent World Travel Awards 2017 in Vietnam. GVK Lounge, which is operated by Travel Food Services and Performa, was named the World’s Leading Airport Lounge – First Class for the third consecutive year.
The joint venture also claimed the award for Asia’s Leading Airport Lounge and was nominated for the World’s Leading Airport Lounge – Business Class category for the third time in a row. I hope they don’t reduce their services because of sham at Jet Airways.
The awards celebrate excellence across key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
