My flight from Mumbai to Ethiopia was around five hours. It was comfortable and we got served lunch and drinks. After landing in Addis Ababa and clearing customs, the shuttle bus took me to my hotel. It was a beautiful hotel in the heart of the city with comfortable bedding, clean bathroom, room service, wifi and a free buffet dinner!
Remember, Ethiopian airlines is a national carrier of Ethiopia and is part of Star Alliance. Hence, you can transfer credit to either Lufthansa or Singapore Airlines. You can also use miles of either airline to get upgraded to business class which is a sweet deal as no fuselage charge is added. If you are frequent Flyer of Air India, you will get the miles but not tier points. However, I would never credit my miles to Air India until I can’t find another Star Alliance that is applicable for the route.
Every year, Ethiopian Airlines around April has a sale where you can fly round trip to New York from Mumbai for Rs 32,000.
