There were 10 Airports with 10 residents Airlines that were originally affected by Electronic ban. As the term got popular in trending media – it was written with hashtag #ElectronicBan.
Last week TSA authority came up with a solution that allowed removal of the electronic ban.
Yesterday Etihad was the first of 10 airlines that got relief from the ban. On July 4th, Independence day in USA, Emirates and Turkish Airlines came celebrating. Now even they are free of the ban.
For Turkey, UK ban is still live and hence their flights to London would still be subjected to #Electronicban
But it seems they are not the only one. Emirates has published a notice on their website to this effect:
I believe Qatar Airways would be the next in line to announce the removal of the ban.
Saudia is working on getting an exemption as well, and they have set a timeline of July 19 to be compliant with the new rules of the game. Royal Jordanian also claims to be working with the US Authorities.
Bottomline
The USA first banned the visa for all the countries in the region. Then started the electronic ban. For some reason, it feels the end of one ban and in few days there would be a different type of ban in place, I don’t know what that would be but I am waiting for it.
