Every quarter IHG (Intercontinental Hotel Group), runs an accelerate program which incentivizes the people to stay more with them and spend more money with them. In exchange, customers can earn more points (or cash back) for their stay and also improve their status with the hotel. It is a brilliant idea indeed. However, IHG doesn’t really offer much to its platinum members and having low value per points doesn’t make it one of the most attractive groups to spend my money with. It only works for me when a hotel is in set price and I have an incentive to earn something great.
I would never strive to become a Platinum member with them unless they launch a co-branded credit card in which they are providing status upgrade.
IHG has recently devalued its membership. It wasn’t a great place to start with and then it keeps devaluing its point which might end up having no meaning in the end.
Current value of 1 IHG point = Rs. 0.34. I believe it might fall down to Rs 0.30 soon.
My offer is for 41000 points worth Rs 13940.
Let’s look at my current offer

The good part about IHG is they usually give you 1000 bonus points for a small spending of Rs 300. I usually opt for it as my usual stay would always fetch me between 600 to 900 points per night. So added points make it 1600 to 1900 which is more respectable. I have never stayed consecutive nights with IHG hotels because it never makes sense to do that.
IHG only allows direct booking from their website. If you book via 3rd party, you are not eligible to any of the points or amenities subject to your status.
Current offer:
January Bonus = 1000 points
1 Night stay = 1000 points
1 Night stay with bonus points = 3600 points
Food worth $39 = 600 points
I can achieve all this in a single stay at Holiday Inn Express which is usually priced roughly at Rs. 3000 in the month of January. I would automatically get 1000 points more for booking with the bonus.
4 more stays = 5000 points
I automatically complete all the offers and get generous completion bonus = 29800.
I am not sure I would be doing 4 more stays unless my schedule allows me 4 more stays at Holiday Inn Express.
