IHG has just released their new PointBreaks list, so if you might be interested in making a booking, check out the list now (especially as IHG didn’t release a preview list this time around, so all of these hotels come as a surprise).
IHG’s revamped PointBreaks promotion
At the beginning of the year IHG revamped their PointBreaks promotion. This is a promotion they’ve been offering on a quarterly basis for years, which allows you to book select hotels for just 5,000 points per night. Given that I value IHG points at ~0.5 cents each, that’s the equivalent of paying just ~$25 per night for a hotel room, which is a steal.
The issue is that the quality of the hotels on the lists had been gradually decreasing over the years, to the point that many of us didn’t even bother trying with the promotion anymore. It was great if you happened to be traveling to somewhere that had a PointBreaks hotel, but otherwise just wasn’t worth going out of your way for.
So IHG changed up their PointBreaks promotion earlier this year, and more specifically, now charges 5,000, 10,000, or 15,000 points per night through PointBreaks. IHG is promising that they’ll offer more hotels than in the past, and presumably higher quality hotels as well.
The next PointBreaks list has just gone live, and is valid for stays through February 28, 2019. The better hotels tend to sell out pretty quickly (as there are capacity constraints), so you’ll want to book sooner rather than later.
The following is the hotel list from the India for 10,000 points a night.
INDIA
Crowne Plaza Pune City Centre
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bengaluru Racecourse
Holiday Inn Express Bengaluru Whitefield ITPL
Holiday Inn Express Gurugram Sector 50
I have reviewed Crowne Plaza Pune here.
I am not really excited about the list as except one property, all of them are Holiday Inn Express. The last time list was far superior than this time.
